Prior to his current position at Databricks at Director of Community Evangelism, Paco Nathan is the former Chief Scientist at Mesosphere. An O'Reilly author, Paco is an expert in distributed systems, machine learning, predictive modeling, and cloud computing. He received his BS Math Sciences and MS Computer Science degrees from Stanford, and has 25+ years experience in the tech industry ranging from Bell Labs to early-stage start-ups since receiving his BS Math Sci and MS Comp Sci degrees from Stanford University

Associate Professor, Computer Science Dept., Cornell University. Passionate about CS, Distributed Systems, OSes, NoSQL, and Bitcoin. He likes building things, especially systems. HyperDex, OpenReplica and Nexus are some of his current projects, which involve a novel secure operating system and system infrastructure for high-performance cloud computing applications.


Hacker, system builder and computer scientist, Robert Escriva is Co-founder at Hyperdex. Interested in distributed systems to support large-scale applicatiosn, he's currently working on HyperDex, a new NoSQL system. Raul is a former LinkedIn intern and a 3rd year PhD student at Imperial College London in the Large Scale Distributed Systems research group. Álvaro Hernández

Álvaro is a 35 year-old IT entrepreneur, founder of a couple of software tech companies (Wizzbill and 8Kdata). He's a DBA and Java developer at 8Kdata, a company developing products for PostgreSQL, Java and AWS. He is also the founder and CEO of Wizzbill, a startup that offers smartphone/web products and services to help mobile phone users save money on their phone bill. He is a passionate software developer and open source advocate.


Jacek Juraszek

Jacek has experience in developing multi source Search Systems as well as Big Data analytics applications. In his carrier he was successfully taking responsibilities for managing the team as system architect, developing web applications and analyzing business requirements. His goal is to gain experience in machine learning and extending his academic knowledge on metaheuristic alghoritms and their usage with Big Data problems. In future Jacek would like to work within agile company with high theoretical and practical experience in solving Big Data problems.

Jarosław Grabowski

Jarosław works in Allegro Group building big data collecting and processing system. For over three years his daily job is to implement and troubleshoot Pig, Hive and Cascading jobs run on one of the biggest Hadoop clusters in Poland. Bain, who earned a Ph.D. (1978) in electrical engineering from Rice University and has worked in parallel computing at Bell Labs research, Intel, and Microsoft. Marc Planagumà

Marc Planagumà is lead data engineer and researcher in the Urban Data Analytics Research group at Barcelona Digital Technology Center (BDigital). His work deals with building scalable Machine Learning systems for intensive data processing and stream computing scenarios.
His current focus of work is geospatial and near-realtime analytics on mobility and smart city scenarios. Marc Planaguma holds a M.Sc on Telecomunications from the UPC, and he has been involved in research activities on data analytics since 2005, then at Telefonica I+D, and from 2010 at BDigital.

David Gerster

David loves speaking at data conferences and meetups, and have a knack for making data science concepts accessible to a general audience. At Yahoo, he led the project to collect billions of URL clickstreams from Toolbar and record them in Hadoop. At Groupon, David built an elite data science team that trained the first machine-learned models for mobile relevance. He also worked as an individual contributor, querying Hadoop, Vertica, Teradata and MySQL in my daily work. Fran J. Gómez was born in Madrid. He works as a Security Engineer and his professional career has always been associated with IT Security, even before he completed his university studies. In 2005, Fran joined Telefonica I+D Hacking Ethical Team to participate in security researches on ISP core networks technologies, which has allowed him to know deeply some of the protocols and technologies that will build the future Internet.
His current research is focused on security systems, Internet protocols and cyberintelligence at the Security Area of Telefonica. Fran has also been participated as speaker to events such as RootedCON, RedIRIS Security Forum, CCN-CERT STIC, TEDxTelefónica or Spark Summit.
